My Prayer for the New Year

My prayer is that believers who read these posts are strengthened in their faith as they are reminded of the truth and authority of God’s word. I pray that we will be encouraged to rethink our priorities as we head into another year of opportunity to glorify our Savior by submitting to Him as Lord and declaring His love and the good news of the gospel to others—not only in word, but in deed.

The signs of His return as prophesied by the Savior are evident. The time that most of us choose to invest in earthly treasure that is only useful in this lifetime is sadly the primary focus of our energy; we should be investing most of our energy in accumulating heavenly treasure that will benefit us for eternity.

My prayer for those that may stumble across these postings that do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior is that they will be provoked to look closer at God’s word and recognize their need for a Savior. The hardest truth to face is that there is absolutely nothing you can do earn your salvation. The Father has done everything for us in sending His Son to be born as a man and become the only acceptable sacrifice for our sin. Through His willingness to die on the cross and suffer the judgment of your sin, you can now be declared righteous before God if you will just accept Him in faith.

I pray you will take some time to meditate on the following scriptures and that this year you will experience the joy and peace of Jesus in your life.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Psalm 19:1-3

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20

There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.
Ecclesiastes 7:20

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1John 1:8

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me. John 14:6

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life. John 3:16

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

“Do you think, asks the Sovereign LORD, that I like to see wicked people die? Of course not! I only want them to turn from their wicked ways and Live. Ezekiel 18:23

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14:2-3

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise…but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2Peter 3:9

Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20
