by Sharon Cravens

God’s amazing love came down
So very long ago
In form—a tiny baby
As the prophets had foretold.

Wholly God and wholly man
A wonderful mystery
He offered Himself a sacrifice
Hanging from the tree.

Filled with grief and sorrow
Enduring so much pain
Paying the debt for all my sin
To make me whole again.

He offers this great gift of love
To all who will receive
And look to Him in simple faith
Forgiveness to receive.

Why did He do this?
What did He gain?
What could be worth
All the sorrow and pain?

Though I can’t understand it
It’s quite clear to me
It was all for His love—
Love for you and for me.
