OUR HOPE, HIS PROMISE, A NEW HEAVENS AND EARTH

I'll preface these scripture cards with a quote from one of my study journals:   "Our life in this world is such a minute speck on the “timeline” of eternity.  If we could really comprehend that truth, I don’t think we would struggle so much with temptation by the temporary pleasures of this world compared to the spiritual treasures that can be ours for eternity."

THE MIGHTY ROCK OF OUR SALVATION

I am sharing the words of another old hymn with the scripture cards for today--A Mighty Fortress is our God by Martin Luther.

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

THE PRECIOUS PEACE OF GOD

One of my favorite old hymns declares the blessing of God's peace and is a perfect companion to the cards I want to share today.

Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way.

Refrain:
Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.

Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do;
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

A CRY FOR HELP AND GOD'S ABUNDANT MERCY

“I would say to my soul, O my soul, this is not the place of despair; this is not the time to despair in. As long as mine eyes can find a promise in the Bible, as long as there is a moment left me of breath or life in this world, so long will I wait or look for mercy, so long will I fight against unbelief and despair.” John Bunyan (1628 – 1688)

OUR CREATOR AND SUSTAINER OF LIFE

I hope you will enjoy a few more scripture cards while I take a little time off with family.  I pray you will take time to meditate on the truth declared by each one even as you enjoy the beauty of the heavens and the beauty of nature.  As always, you can click on the image for a large picture.
