GOD WATCHES OVER ISRAEL

Though there is continually much in the news regarding threats to the nation of Israel, scripture is clear in declaring that God watches over Israel.

Psalms 121:4 “Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

One day in the foreseeable future, Jesus, the very Son of God, will reign as King of kings over the whole world from the throne of David in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 9:6–7 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

Luke 1:32–33 “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

Revelation 19:11-16 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war….and his name is called The Word of God….And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

The plans of men, even men who have sold their souls to Satan, are no match for Almighty God.  His purposes will be accomplished and His will fulfilled in His perfect timing.

Isaiah 46:9–10 “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”

Isaiah 45:22–25 “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed. In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.”

Isaiah 14:24 “The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand….”

I pity anyone who chooses to disregard this truth.

I understand Israel to be God's chosen people...but I'm confused about something. If the Jewish faith as a whole doesn't even believe in Jesus, or that he deid for our sins then their fate is hell, right? I'm reading through Ezekial now and there are so many references about God bringing his chosen back together and setting up a kingdom here on earth.

Dear reader, I understand your confusion. You are correct in assuming that everyone must place their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior to escape an eternity in hell. Israel was set apart by God to show the nations the blessings of trusting Him as Lord. Because as a whole (not every single Jew) they chose to reject their Messiah, whom they should have recognized from His miracles and the specific time He came as prophesied in scripture, God set Israel aside for the time being and the body of true believers that became known as the “church” were to assume that responsibility for a time. The covenants God made with Abraham and David, however, were unconditional and have yet to be fulfilled. One of the main purposes of the last seven years before Jesus returns as King—known as the tribulation and the 70th week of Daniel—is to produce a purified remnant of Jewish believers through whom God will fulfill those covenant promises. When Jesus returns, He will rule the world from the throne of David in Jerusalem for 1000 years. After that time, Satan and sin will be destroyed forever, and the Great White Throne Judgment will take place that will serve to condemn those who have rejected Jesus as Lord. This comment can only serve to provide a quick answer to a question that deserves so much more. I have a much more thorough explanation on my website at www.momsbiblejournal.com, Topical Studies, Refuting Replacement Theology. May God continue to bless you as you seek to know more about His Word! If I can be of further help, please don’t hesitate to ask.
