FULFILLED PROPHECIES FROM THE BIBLE SINCE 1948

In this next series of blog posts I want to draw your attention to prophecies from the word of God that have been fulfilled basically since the time that Israel once again was recognized as a sovereign nation.  I will also address events that are on the prophetic horizon followed by the implications of the prophetic accuracy of scripture.

1948 – Israel reborn as a nation

The nation of Israel was non-existent for almost 2000 years before its amazing rebirth as foretold by the prophet Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 37:1–11 “The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones…and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel….”

Jerusalem to become a cup of trembling to all nations

The prophet Zechariah spoke of a time in which Jerusalem would be a cup of trembling and burdensome stone to all people on earth.

Zechariah 12:2-3 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.  And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”

Development of technology allowing events across the globe to be seen worldwide in real time

From his vision on the island of Patmos, John prophesied of two witnesses that would declare God’s truth from Jerusalem during the last seven-year period (more commonly known as the tribulation) before Jesus returns as King.  He also foretold that when they are killed by the Antichrist, the peoples of all nations will be able to see their dead bodies.

Revelation 11:3–9 “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth….And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.”

Development of technology allowing for mark of beast

John also foretold from his vision that the Antichrist would cause every person on earth to receive a mark in the right hand or forehead in order to be able to conduct business of any type during the last half of the tribulation period.

Revelation 13:16–17 “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

Development of technology that results in weapons that do not miss their mark

The prophet Jeremiah talks about a time in which weapons will exist that will hit their targets without fail—a description of today’s “smart” weaponry.

Jeremiah 50:9 “For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.”

Development of technology allowing for destruction of the global population

Since the development of nuclear weapons and the ensuing arms race, the nuclear potential exists to destroy mankind.

I found the following information at www.icnnd.org, the website for The International Commission on Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament:  “The destructive power of nuclear weapons is mind-numbing in more ways than one: far too much policy debate about the role of nuclear weapons is abstract and detached from the horrific reality of their lethal capability. The short point is that the combined stockpile of existing weapons is capable of destroying our world as we know it many times over.”

Matthew 24:21–22 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved….”
